XXVI. International Grassland Congress 2027: Call for Sessions now open

We invite the scientific community to shape the program of the XXVI International Grassland Congress 2027
→ Submit your session proposal by January 30, 2026
The Call for Sessions IGC 2027 is now open. We invite the global grassland community to propose session ideas that will shape the centenary IGC in Leipzig, Germany, on June 13–18, 2027.
IGC 2027 welcomes proposals for sessions related to the themes of grassland production and utilization, grassland-based livestock systems, ecosystem functioning and services, socio-economy of grassland systems and grassland policies and transformation of grassland systems. Conveners are asked to outline aims, scope, and possible speakers, and submit via our website.
The IGC 2027 conference will be hosted by the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI), the Thünen Institute (TI), and the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF).

Leipzig itself holds a special place in IGC history as the host city of the very first International Grassland Congress in 1927. We are especially excited to welcome you to the historic Kongresshalle am Zoo in Leipzig — a landmark venue where the 50th anniversary of the IGC was celebrated in 1977. There is no better place to celebrate the 100th anniversary than this vibrant and culturally rich city.
The surrounding countryside of Leipzig features diverse semi-natural grasslands and important grassland research sites, which participants will have the chance to explore during the mid-conference tours — offering excellent opportunities for scientific exchange and on-site discussions.
